The oldest case on this site predates the chatbots. In 2021 the New York Times reported that Ronn Torossian had secretly owned Everything-PR since 2014 and used it to praise 5W and attack rivals; he stepped down as CEO in February 2022. The site now discloses the shared interest and ranks 5W first anyway, with a companion piece in which 5W ran the analysis and chose every prompt. The audience has changed from journalists to assistants. The method has not.
